photo-optical tube compressor effects pedal Coming soon to this site - Effectrode's photo-optical compressor puts hi-fidelity Vactrol tube compression right at your feet in the form of a compact and affordable effects pedal. Built with a pure analog architecture based on photo-cell and tube technology, this outstanding compressor rivals the best high-end vintage gear found in many professional studios. Operating at true tube amplifier plate voltages the photo-optical tube compressor has stacks of head-room and a low noise floor ensuring fantastic dynamic range.

JJ Logo Tube technology delivers staggeringly huge tone and unparalleled flexibility too. In less time than it takes to tune a guitar, Effectrode effects pedals can be easily customized to meet your specific musical requirements by simply changing a tube. For example, simple swap the stock JJ 12AX7 in the Tube-Vibe gain/mixer section for a 12AT7 for increased headroom and lower gain or or try a NOS JAN Philips 12AX7, Mullard ECC83 for a smoother response. JAN Philips Mil-Spec 12AT7 in the phase-shift sections for high reliablity - you decide.

Features

  • All Tube: 100% pure analog vacuum tube audio path for maximum signal integrity and hi-fidelity sound reproduction.
  • True Bypass: All our pedals feature true bypass footswitching with a unique 'anti-pop' circuit to drastically reduce the well known 'click' or 'thump' noise associated with electro-mechanical switching.
  • A-weighting filter: A switchable A-weighted filter in the side-chain replicates the response of the human ear and allows for heavy compression without the excessive 'pumping' normnally associated with compressors processing low-frequnecy material, for much more natural and musical effect.
  • Photo-optical gain control: The gain control element is based on a CdS photocell which ensures the absolute minimum of distortion is introduced (much lower than V.C.A. and F.E.T. designs). Additionally, the natural decay characteristic of the photocell produces a smooth two-stage release characteristic which always sounds pleasing and natural to the ear as it eliminates 'breathing'.
  • Red L.E.D.: Indicates if the effect is engaged and the brightness responds to the amount of compression being applied to the signal.
  • Wall-Wart: Supplied with switched-mode technology wall-wart power supply adapter for low, low noise.
