Delicious! – The New Delta-Trem

Here’s a first look at the new Delta-Trem vactrol tremolo enclosure – with deep chocolate paint with rich gold graphics it looks good enough to eat! I’ve spent a great deal of time (much more time than is commercially sensible) working on the redesign of the logo and graphics for this pedal but I wanted this tremolo pedal to look exceptional – as good as it sounds! The tube and vactrol circuitry sounds delicious with beautiful rich, smooth, velvet tones. The advantage of having a pedal out of production for almost six years is that it’s given me time to allow my ideas to ferment. What this means is that the design aesthetic has ended up being much better than I originally planned. Because Effectrode is a small private company, we’re only answerable to ourselves and our customers and there are no banks or shareholders to interfere with the creative process. There’s space at Effectrode to experiment and refine. Each pedal design takes as much time as it wants. The circuitry is complete and I’m now working on the last few refinements. The waiting list for this first batch of 100 pedals is almost full and will close in summer, however don’t worry we will be making more of these pedals in the next year or so.

Over the last eight months I've been revamping my hybrid studio rig. Two of the more recent additions were a Blackbird preamp and the little PC-2A compressor that's quickly found a home as an effect on my studio board. The little compressor inspired me to replace my aged VCA compressor that's been a trusted companion and housed for a couple of decades in a portable performance rack case for my acoustic gear. - While the Blackbird can't match the versatility of my Pendulum SPS-1 preamp, sonically, the Blackbird is every bit as clean and quiet as the larger rack mount unit. Apart from the connectivity options, I'd have no problem taking that with me instead of the SPS-1 for any sort of show or session. My next purchase will be a Tube Vibe very shortly. - Love the design and the color scheme you've come up with for the Delta-Trem, Phil. Looks like a large chocolate jewel; icing on the cake to what comes out from the inside. Guess I'll have to be patient for that one to be released, but that's definitely on my schedule.
