FIVE YEAR WARRANTY

Effectrode Thermionic warrants your pedal to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of five years from the original date of purchase. The tubes, pots, footswitch and power supply are warrantied for a period of ninety days from the original date of purchase. If your pedal fails within this period then Effectrode will repair or, at our discretion, replace the pedal at no cost to you.

Effectrode pedals are designed to last and be repaired, if you have a pedal with a fault that falls outside of the warranty, we are still able to repair it for you, contact us for details.

Using a reversed polarity power supply will damage your pedal and cause a number of components to fail. If you have used a reversed polarity power supply please advise us as this will speed up the diagnosis time and reduce your repair cost.

THINGS TO CHECK BEFORE RETURNING YOUR PEDAL

The first thing to check is that you are using the correct power supply, most power supplies are designed for low-power transistor/opamp pedals and simply cannot supply enough juice for real vacuum tube gear. Effectrode pedals are more like tube amplifiers in their power supply requirements and demand high currents and voltages to operate correctly. A typical transistor pedal will use in the order of just a few milliamps, Effectrode pedals with three tubes require a minimum of 1200mA. Please make sure you check the polarity is correct (center positive) otherwise you will damage your pedal. The Wall-wart supplied with our pedals supplies the correct power.

The next thing to check is the tubes, just because they are lit up does not necessarily mean they are working. Swapping miniature tubes in Effectrode pedals is as quick and easy as changing a light-bulb. First disconnect the pedal from the mains power outlet. A tube can be removed by gently gripping and pulling the glass envelope whilst wiggling it in a circular motion. When replacing a tube make sure the pins are aligned correctly with the tube socket and gently push it into position. Never use excessive force to insert the tube as this may bend pins. The tubes inside our smaller pedals such as the PC-2A, Fire Bottle and Blue Bottle are not user serviceable, these pedals will need to be returned to Effectrode in the unlikely event that they require tube replacement.

Another thing to consider is have you been tube swapping? Changing tubes multiple times can gradually push the pins inside the tube socket apart, you can check for this with a magnifying glass and good lighting, they can easily be bent back into place. Look straight down inside, see if any of the pins are wonky, if they are loose (too far open) they will not make a good connection. It is common practice to re-tension the tube sockets after changing tubes a number of times.

You can also check the pedal by connecting it directly to your amp with no other pedals, and with no cable connected to the input of the pedal, does the problem still persist?
