Hot off the press—brand new Binson ‘Echorec’ idler wheels! Here in the Effectrode lab we’ve been busily working around the clock to fabricate high quality new parts for Echorec delay machines. The photo above shows our first attempt at reproducing a replica of an old model “T5E” idler wheel (the replica is on the left and the original in on the right). In principle this wheel should give better performance, that is improved stability of rotational speed, and therefore more precise echo repeats, than a N.O.S. (new old stock) wheel. The reason being that even a N.O.S. idler wheel will degrade over time. Over the years the rubber hardens. In use this results in a loss of traction where the idler wheel slips against the drum and causes the speed to slow down and speed up cyclically (a.k.a. “wow”).
This new idler wheel, and other essential, newly manufactured parts, such as heads, cleaning pads, difficult to find screws, etc will be available on our website shortly.
