Our Leveling Amplifier is one of “Best Guitar Effects” pedals of the Year!

Our new Leveling Amplifier has been selected by “Best Guitar Effects” as one of their pedals of the year. This is real honour as these guys really do know their stuff when it comes to guitar effects – their pedal reviews are arguably the most comprehensive and in-depth you can find leaving no stone unturned.

We’re now working on building another batch of Leveling Amplifiers and anticipate Best Guitar Effects will review it early in the new year.

Hi Phil! can you help me with a dilemma, please? I have my Effectrode LA 1A and I would like to replace JJ Tesla tubes by Brimar. My question is about "Timbre". There is a difference in relation to the tubes, a fuller, creamy tone. Sorry for my writing, I don't speak English and I'm using the translator. Hugs and thanks for your thoughtful response!

Hi Danilo, For a more full-bodied tone I recommend trying long plate tubes in the two 12AU7 positions. You can try long plate Brimar 12AU7 or 13D8 types in there (the 13D8 is a balanced plate tube). Also you might consider the Mullard 12AU7 (ECC82) as this is longer plate construction too. All the best, Phil

Hi Phil, my LA 1A is finally here! Can you say something about the key in the upper left corner (+ 6dB, + 12dB and + 18dB). I researched this on the internet, but I still couldn't understand its functionality.

Hi Danilo, The attenuator switch affects the transformer balanced output only and is used for matching the Leveling Amplifier signal level to your recording device or mixing desk. Best, Phil

Hi Eduard, Yes, just send an email request to sam@effectrode.com and she'll make sure you are on the waiting list. The Delta-Trem and Phaseomatic pedals are pretty much complete - I just need to choose a momentary foot switch for the tap tempo. Best regards, Phil

Hi, I’d like to be added to the list as well! I don’t know how I missed this the first time. It is the main two ways I’ve used with my Effectrode Compressor (you know it’s been on your board a really long time when you don’t see a model number, but just creamy warmth box) even in Jam Up Pro lol.

Are you still taking names for the list for the LA-2A? If so, please count me in. I have an Origin Cali76 GP (the bigger box, with the Germanium Drive and parallel control.) I want one of your tube compressors. I think it will give me more of what I am looking for, than the Origin. Thanx Steve

AraThe Blackbird's blue channel would be a better bet for what you're after than than the Tube-Drive which is thicker in the mids (& works well as a solo boost before the Blackbird). I don't think of that light crunch or edge-of-breakup tone that you are referring to as "clean" as being clean per se but I know what you're referring to.You might prefer a 12AU7 valve in your pedal rather than the 12AX7 if that lower gain dirt is hard for you to dial in - or just experiment more with both the pedal & amp tone controls (maybe your amp is mids-deficient & exacerbates a mids-light pedal? Try eliminating any Boss-type buffered pedals from your FX chain too.Maybe use your PC-2A at the same time (before the drive) to help get the right feel (dial it in for light compression). Either way compression helps get some of the feel of a louder amp when you;re playing at lower levels. The PC-2A into good valve drives like the Effectrodes used in this way really allows for some enhanced & unique tones.

Hi Phil,I have your PC-2A and FireBottle pedals and I LOVE them!David Gilmour being my one and hero, I’m most comfortable and at home with his clean tones both for rhythm and solo with obviously some level of overdrive and distortion. That being said, I’ve NOT been able to get his relatively clean tones with slight overdrive/distortion for solos with my B.K. Butler Tube Drive. It’s almost impossible to dial in “clean” tone with it in bedroom setting. So my question is, would your Tube Drive or Delta Trem give me the DG’s “clean” tone for solos. I’ve listened to sound clips for both pedals and liked it very much, but wanted to get your thoughts and recommendations on it.I would also be interested in your Phaser pedal since I have not found any that delivers the basic phaser effects without being incredibly noisy! I must say that I’ve been spoiled with your dead silent pedals...!On a different topic... what would it take to be a dealer for your products in San Francisco Bay Area or Northern Cal? The nearest dealer is in So Cal in Studio City 300+ miles away! We, x-employees of closing music store, are setting up a hi-end Music Store and one stop amps/instruments repair shop. We’re going to cary hi-end, vintage gear/instruments, and pedals to go with them.Feel free to emeil me directly to discuss the your terms if you like.Keep up the fenamonal work, you guys put a smile on lot of amature musicians and I’m sure pros alike!—Ara

Hi Ara, Thank you for your kind words on the PC-2A and Fire Bottle. If you're aiming to get cleaner tones from the Tube Drive, which has quite a lot of gain on tap, then I advise replacing one or both of its stock 12AX7 tubes with lower gain tubes such as 12AY7, 12AV7 or even 12AU7. If you contact sam@effectrode.com she'll be able to email you with our dealer price list. Thank you, Phil

I'd want to order a Tube Vibe as well. And thank you so much for making these incredible effects! I got a Tube Drive for Christmas, and in 20 years of playing guitar I've never been so happy with a new pedal... it makes my Vibroverb sound like it looks but at reasonable volumes, and with tons of gain to spare. The Levelling Amplifier keeps delivering in new applications. Here's one use that some might find helpful - pushing a great crunch tone on an amp & also providing something extra to a lead tone when kicking in an overdrive pedal.I spent some time dialling in new Effectrode tones with the bridge pickup on one of my Les Pauls hitting the Tube Drive recently. Going into the more vintage gain mode of my Marshall Vintage Modern 50w head that I have set for dirtier tones (have a 100w that I leave set for cleans that I normally use with drives & boosts).I also love the higher gain mode of the amp too but the gain difference when kicking in the extra preamp valve in the dirt-tuned amp is too intense (gain that can be maxed out in "low dynamic range" mode needs to be rolled back by about half for "high dynamic range" mode), so it's one or the other, rather than a two-channel amp.No problem, the Tube Drive into the maxed out gain in lower drive mode (which by itself is still pretty mild by so-called "modern" standards, think cranked JTM 45) sounds even better (& provides more control) than an optimally dialled in high gain mode on the amp.Kicked on the LA-1A after it & it took the tonal radiance to a new intensity. The synergy between these valve tone devices when stacking them in series is a wonder to experience. Way more of a batter thing rather than "too much of a good thing" I didn't even think to kick on the LA-1A's boost this time. Something to look forward too for next time!
