Model PM-3A Phaseomatic Deluxe Update #1!

This evening’s work – laying out the front panel for the new Phaseomatic tube phaser. Second hand Phaseomatic pedals are exchanging hands for over double their original retail price on Ebay, so since there is a demand we thought it was time to bring the design back for 2016 with a few new features including:

  • Tap tempo
  • Dual L.F.O.s
  • Two CV inputs to control speed and width
  • Loads more waveform options

Release date is scheduled for summer 2016. More info coming soon!

Hi Ray, Yes, it's just going to take longer than expected, Things should start moving more quickly next year once I get a couple of techs to help building pedals.

My brother once told when we were in Paris for my 30th birthday that I should jump off the Eiffel Tower with a guitar around my shoulder, a wah-wah pedal strapped to my foot & with a battery amp & get in the Guinness Book of Records for fastest change of altitude while playing wah-wah guitar. It sounds like that! :DLooking forward to the opportunity to check these simultaneous controls out.

I'd save the magic eyes for that Echo-Delay that we're all craving for. :)I just had another thought:It appears from the layout of the PM-3A above that there are two separate jack sockets for CV (one for the LFO speed, one for width or depth). If instead the layout was one socket for CV accompanied by one switch to select the function (speed/depth) then that would save replugging one's only expression pedal from one socket to the other or having to get two expression pedals. My Mission expression pedal actually has two switchable outs, but it'd be nice to keep one attached to the Tube-Vibe, the other to the PM-3A.This layout would also keep the number & placement of sockets & switches on the rear of the PM-3A the same as the pics you currently have up for the forthcoming Delta-Trem & Vibra-Chorus, which would presumably be useful from a manufacturing perspective. The PM-3A with its dual phasers would seem to be well-suited to be a stereo pedal. Any likelihood of this happening do you think Phil?

Hi Troy,We've already had the artwork processed so the dual CV inputs will have to stay. One advantage of this is that it does allow both parameters to be changed simultaneously - even though it's more difficult than driving a car! :D

Reading the user guide it appears that there will be two selectable levels of feedback via the "colour" switch: "Metallic" & "Normal" (which is more subtle). Presumably no feedback also produces usable sounds with this circuit? If so then maybe a three-way toggle could be used to select this as well? Or is the difference between that & "Normal" too subtle?I don't know which I am looking forward to most out of this & the Delta-Trem.Note to Miguel above: You really need to get a Blackbird to add to your line-up, the blue channel does it for me every time using the other Effectrodes to kick things up a notch (or two, or three, or four). You'll probably need a Glass-A to help preserve your signal with all that added cable length though.Phil: if you'd put a "Magic Eye" on the Glass-A you could have called it the "Glass Eye"! :D

Hi Troy, It will be a 3-way switch, which will allow no feedback to be selected. I guess I've not made that clear in the manual. Will do some fine editing at some point. I do have some subminiature magic eyes somewhere and may even use them in a design at some point.

I was hoping this would come back!...but no resonance knob?

Avatar for Phil

Phil October 26, 2015 at 11:42:22 Log in to Reply

Hi Johan,The resonance control has been replaced with a toggle switch, which allows feedback to be selected from the 4th and 3rd phase-shift sections. Resonance can be fine-tuned via an internal trimpot.
