“Brimarize” your pedal! The Phaseomatic can be purchased with either new JJ tubes or grade ‘A’ NOS (New Old Stock) Brimar tubes fitted. JJ tubes are excellent tubes, however the NOS Brimar tubes were manufactured in an era when tube expertise and materials were at their zenith—they’re truly exceptional in terms of quality and reliability. Further, the longer plate construction yields a smoother, fuller tone than modern tubes.

Description

On more subtle settings the Phaseomatic creates a beautiful, natural sounding vibrato (frequency modulation) and shimmering phasing effects, utilising exactly the same one- and two-stage “Cathodyne” tube circuitry used to in those incredible vintage Magnatone^® amps. However, the Phaseomatic’s all-tube circuitry has two additional Cathodyne phase inverters, which allow it to generate a much richer, deeper vibrato and even intense, deep “tunnel” phasing as well as a host of cosmic and spacious sound effects heard on many 1950′s “B” science fiction movie soundtracks.

FEATURES

All Tube: The Phaseomatic utilises four “Cathodyne” tube phase inverters and photocells to create true vibrato and subtle, shimmering phase-chorused effects—pure tube signal processing operating at real amp plate voltages (300VDC!), just like in a vintage amp!
Advanced Mixed-Wave Modulator: Twin LFOs that can generate triangle (linear sweep phasing), sine, pseudo-square (vibe), lopsided and various pulse wave shapes.
“Frozen Sweep” Capability: The LFO is capable of super-long, super-slow 1/180Hz (three minutes!) sweep rates to generate rich, complex comb filter effects. If this isn’t slow enough then a constant output mode allows the comb notches to be “frozen” to create hollow sounding acoustic timbres.
C.V. Inputs For external control from a voltage source or EV-5 expression pedal for lots of phase modulation possibilities. Frozen notches can be moved up and down. This action can be used in conjunction with the internal LFO of the Phaseomatic for articulate and beautiful sweep effects.
‘Dakaware’ Knobs: Authentic bakelite ‘Dakaware’, Chicago 1510 knobs custom manufactured for Effectrode in the U.S.A using the original 1940s moulds.
Rare peach coloured LEDs: Pulsate with modulation speed to mesmerise… or for visual song tempo matching.
Includes 12V Wall-wart Power Supply High quality low-noise switched mode 12VDC at 1.5A wall-wart compatible with all our pedals. Accepts 100V to 240VAC mains input and comes with different mains outlet adaptor plugs, so there is always a plug that fits the country that you are playing in.

This is one of those pedals you could experiment with all day and still be finding new sounds at midnight. I’ve played through a lot of phasers in 45 years’ guitar-playing, and the Phaseomatic is the best-sounding, best-looking, most fascinating and inspiring by a country mile. You can coax tremolo, vibrato and chorus out of it, and with everything down it even gives a lovely clean boost. So, theoretically, it can be the only modulation you need on your board for gigging. I have a feeling, after five Effectrode buys so far, I’ll be back for Phil’s other modulation pedals anyway – and if he ever gives us an echo/delay, you just know it’ll be another classic. Keep up the good work!

You helped me figure out and visualize what I wanted to achieve sound wise. Indeed the jumper was in sync mode. I was still getting a warble sound (beautiful but not what I was going for this morning) even on the normal toggle switch. So both lights were pulsing out of sync. I wanted them to pulse in sync. Upon re-reading the manual, it dawned on me to hold the tap / sync button and lower the speed to naught and release the button. Success! Both lights pulsed in sync at any speed setting and I got the most lush & gorgeous sounding Phaser I’ve ever heard. I assume this method synced up both LFOs to be in phase. What an outstanding piece of art this is – only to be matched by your most brilliant support! I thank you and Phil most kindly for the super talented work you do! Effectrode is without compare.

One word: BEAUTIFUL. The ability to morph the wave-shape on the fly allows for creativity in a way that I have never heard or even imagined. Also, the transparency of this pedal is second to none. I will never tire of the available sound palette. In terms of signal/sound quality, usability / tweak-ability, and available tones, this unit outshines everything else I have played through. My phaser search is over. I own a ton of pedals, many of which are more expensive boutique pedals, and I compare having this unit on my pedal-board to having a Ferrari parked next to a line of golf carts. Sure; they will all take you somewhere, but to me, performance is everything. With the Phaseomatic, I got what I paid for and I couldn’t be more satisfied. Next stop: Tube Vibe!
On a personal note: I want to thank you again for the outstanding service you provided. I have told many of my “jam-mates” about this and all are quite surprised to hear of the help you provided. This is the most musical phaser I have ever worked with. I’ve been playing for over 40 years now, so I’ve tried the lot of them and never could find THE one, now it seems I have. Usually phasers, by nature, have a tendency to wash away the guitar tone definition. The Phaseomatic does not – wherever the notch is, I get a very subtle, musical, psychedelic addition to my sound.

I am using the Phaseomatic with slow rate, simple triangle waveform and high resonance and pretty much just the Phaseomatic (no distortion) and the clarity of really rapid passages is great and very tactile… one gorgeous moment in the opera I played in Paris where I have to slowly elicit rich phase tones out of a B sustained by an E-bow on the low 6th string. Its underneath a chorus of five singers undulating and making rich treble bird sounds… the Phaseomatic delivered in spades. Really great.

Recently you helped me locate a new Phase-O-Matic, which I purchased from one of your dealers in Texas. I absolutely love it. Vibralux Chorus next year though! Maybe you’d consider doing a new phaser to go along with the Chorus? That Phaseomatic sounded incredible even on Youtube. With the new Mercury at end of year, my Tube Drive, Tube-Vibe, Blackbird and Compressor… that’s a setup only dreams are made of. Sorry, I love your pedals so much Im just dreaming a bit. In 2012 I bought PM-2C #48 and PC-2A #34 secondhand and later that year preordered Blackbird #88 from you. Thanks for making them, it has been inspiring to use such high quality effects during my sonic journey and education as a player. They will be playing integral roles in an upcoming long-time-coming debut recording project. At least the phaser and compressor; I somewhat regrettably parted with the SR-71 in the summer of 2013 after realizing I wasn’t using it to full potential due to personal preference, so along it went to a good new home.
